This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) on behalf of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive basis to Nikon instruments, Inc., 1300 Walt Whitman Road, Melville, NY 11747 for the purchase of a replacement laser launch and a set of 3 lasers for the existing Nikon C1 conofocal microscope Laser Conofocal System.

Specifically, Nikon Instruments, Inc. will provide One (1) Laser launch laser unit; One (1) Coherent OBIS 488-20 laser head; One (1) OBIS CDRH Connection kit; One (1) STORM lc Sapphire Mount; One (1) Coherent Sapphire 561-20 Laser head; One (1) Coherent Sapphire Driver Unit; One (1) LU3-EX-3 Base; One (1) Sapphire 561 Top Plate; One (1) Coherent OBIS 640-40 laser head;One (1) OBIS CDRH Connection kit; One (1) Cube Adapter for LU3-EX; One (1) LU Dichroic 638SPCB beam combining mirror; One (1) C1 scan head Dichroic mirror filter; One (1) 525/50 560DCXR 2FW Filter; and One (1) 600/50 640DCXR + 650LP 3FW Filter

Nikon Instruments, Inc. is the sole provider of the existing equipment and all upgrade parts and services.

The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR Part 12 procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
