This project shall accomplish a design-build replacement of the fuel tanks located at the following facilities. B176, B329, B613, B786, B1206, B3413, B3489, B3506.
Replace the listed fuel and waste oil storage tanks on Kadena Air Base. New tanks shall be Convault tanks, or an approved equal, to mitigate leak and corrosion. Refer to Kadena Design Guide sections 13.11.1-3, and 21.1.7 for more guidance. Some tanks have tested positive for asbestos and/or lead based paint, which will require abatement. Work also includes all necessary replacement of associated piping and accessories to ensure the tanks are complete and usable. Include seismic protection, antiterrorism, and fire protection measures as required. Sustainable principles, to include life cycle cost-effective practices, will be integrated into the design, development, and construction of the project in accordance with UFC 1-200-02. Work for the project is described in more detail in Section 8 of this Statement of Work (SOW). Sustainable principles, to include life cycle cost- effective practices shall be integrated into the design, development, and construction of the project(s) in accordance with the latest version of UFC 1-200-02, High Performance and Sustainable Building Requirements.
Construction activities may commence after the approval of the Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) and AF Form 103 (work clearance). The Contractor shall coordinate on-site safety requirements through the 718th Civil Engineer Squadron (718 CES).
