This is Sources Sought Notice for Market Research Purposes.  This is not a request for proposal or request for quotations and does not commit the Government to award a contract now or in the future.

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a capable contractor to provide the services required.   The purpose of this notification is to identify vendors with requisite qualifications to proivde services needed by the Government.

The Government has four (4) perchloric acid hoods each with separate exhaust duct, exhaust fan, and water washdown sytem.  The washdown systems are required by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 45 to alleviate the hazard of explosive perchlorates forming in the ductwork or fumehood.  The systems have several washdown nozzle failures that have limited the occupants' ability to work with perchloric until the system can be repaired.  There are several areas of the washdown system that were not performing properly and needed to have components repaired/replaced.

The Contractor shall have a certified industrial hygienist (certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene) test the duct washdown effluent for perchlorates in accordance with NFPA 45-2015, A.7.12.10 and MD 15129-2006 "Guidelines for Perchloric Acid Fume Hoods and Their Exhaust Systems" 5.2.2.

Based on capability statements received in response to this notice, this acquisition maybe solicited as a 100% small business set-aside.  All small business orgainizations (SB, SDB, WOSB, HUB Zone, and VOSB and SDVOSB) are encouraged to respond to this notice.

Interested and capable vendor shall submit a capability statement not to exceed 5 pages and shall be e-mailed to the Contract Specialist at [email protected].  Please address e-mail subject line: Capability Statement for Repair Perchloric Acid Fumehood Washdown System.

Note:  All vendors must be registered in System for Award Management (SAM), www.sam.gov, for contract award.

Once the results of this market research are obtained and analyzed for NIST's minimum requirements, NIST may solicit a competitive procurement and subsequently award a contract.  Please monitor www.fbo.gov for all future contract announcements from NIST.
