This Sources Sought is being issued for planning purposes only and it is not a solicitation or presolicitation notice. Responses to this notice are not considered offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. THE AIR FORCE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY COSTS INCURRED BY INTERESTED PARTIES IN RESPONSDING TO THIS SOURCES SOUGHT.
The 628th Contracting Squadron at Joint Base Charleston, SC is seeking contractors who are capable of a complete refurbishment/overhaul of a 1984/85 SROX108 caboose. Repairs to include: All labor, material, parts and equipment necessary to quote (as required) and/or repair item(s) IAW the manufacturer's specification and/or best commercial practices. The Government will supply a Statement of Work at the time of the solicitation that will include a list of the minimum required specifications to be fixed/completed. Service includes a complete restoration of a caboose, both cosmetically and mechanically. Additionally, the caboose will require armor plating which will also be included in the Statement of Work with detailed specifications. The caboose will be restored to meet original specs. Service and repair to be provided on a schedule. A firm fixed price contract is contemplated.

(a) A positive statement of your intention to bid on this contract.
(b) Business Size, Duns, Cage Code, Tax ID, and Point of Contact
All of the above information must be submitted in sufficient detail for a decision to be made on availability of interested businesses. Failure to submit all information requested may result in a contractor not being considered as an interested vendor. If adequate interest is not received from vendors, then a sole source notification will be posted on Federal Business Opportunities without further notice. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 336510 with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. It is anticipated the solicitation will be issued electronically on the Federal Business opportunities web page at http://www.fbo.gov. Paper copies will not be available. Once the solicitation is posted, it is incumbent upon the interested parties to visit this site frequently for any updates/amendments to any and all documents. All prospective contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) in order to be eligible for award. Again, this is not a solicitation or presolicitation.
