This project falls under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The BLM has been tasked to manage fire and natural resources; and through the essence of habitat restorations, fuels reduction projects will help to protect natural resources and property, and to restore the health of our public forest, wildlife and rangelands. Part of this project performance requirement (approximately 150 acres) are to thin the canopy of a predominately pinyon and juniper site, within an area chained in 1966. The other part of the project requirement (approximately 50 acres) is to remove younger aged pinyon-juniper from an all-aged Ponderosa pine site.
