The National Library of Medicine (NLM) History of Medicine (HMD) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Ben Kinmont, Bookseller 684 North Main Street, Sebastopol, CA 95472, under FAR 6-302-1. The National Library of Medicine (NLM), The History of Medicine Division (HMD), requires a very rare book to add to its collection, Priscianus, Dieta. Venice: SS. De Lucre, 1502. This book is the first edition of this work has a prologue followed by eighteen chapters. Beginning with the importance of eating properly, the chapters are about different types of foods including milk, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, cheese, water, and fruit. The final chapters discuss bathing, exercise and purging. Books on the health properties of different foods were very popular and they were read by both doctors and laypersons.
