***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 6.302-1 with Eckert & Zeigler Analytics, Inc., 1380 Seaboard Industrial BLVD, Atlanta, GA 30318, for the purchase of uncalibrated radioactive materials.

The sole source is based on the following:

Eckert & Ziegler is the only company that can provide the 0.25mm stainless steel encapsulated sources for testing against ANSI standards N42.35 and N42.38. NIST has entered into an interagency agreement with the Department of Homeland Security as a part of a Test and Evaluation Campaign of certain instruments. Other agencies are also involved in this campaign. These sources/radioactive materials are being used for calibration, characterization and verification of instrument performance as well as part of a proficiency test to assess laboratories testing capabilities.

Eckert & Ziegler is the only company that can provide the uncalibrated radioactive materials in stainless steel encapsulated materials in the time required.

***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 5-8 weeks after receipt of order.***

***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 325188, and the size standard is 500 total employees.***

***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by April 01, 2011.***

A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
