United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) will be hosting an âUSJFCOM Focused Forumâ on Thursday, August 12, 2004 (1 â 4 PM). This focused forum will address USJFCOMâs challenge in implementing the Department of Defense (DoD) Net-Centric Data Strategy for the joint warfighter. The meeting will be held at the Chesapeake Conference Center, 900 Greenbrier Circle, Chesapeake, Virginia (http://www.chesapeakeconference.com/). Focused forums provide the command an opportunity to disseminate information to industry, academia, and government agencies on a specific joint warfighting need. USJFCOM, as the Joint Force Integrator, needs to be an advocate for the Joint Warfighter in this DoD metadata environment to work with Agencies, Combatant Commands, Services and Coalition on metadata solutions that ensure interoperability. This focused forum on joint-coalition data strategy collaboration, will address USJFCOM's current effort towards data integration using metadata technologies such as extensible mark-up language. Primary objectives for the upcoming USJFCOM Focused Forum include: 1) Successfully disseminating information to industry leaders on the data interoperability challenge USJFCOM faces, 2) Engaging them to discover a process to take data from existing legacy systems and systems in development, 3) Determining what data sets from those systems are required in joint warfighter communities of interest (COI), and 4) Metadata tagging for both discovery and data sharing in a post-and-subscribe methodology. Agenda includes data strategy presentations/discussion on: 1) USJFCOM Net-Centric Environment, 2) Joint Battle Management Command and Control, 3) Joint-Coalition Data Strategy Collaboration, and 4) Joint Deployment Process Owner Data Transparency. Free to the public and seating is limited on a first come basis.
