USAID/Bangladesh intends to make a non-competitive extension to an existing contract no.388-C-00-03-00050-00 with IRG for the NISHORGO project in Bangladesh. The extension will be for six additional months through November 30,2008. The total estimated cost of the contract will increase by $650,000. The services to be provided by IRG will focus on protection of the Sunderbans, a World Heritage site, the largest Mangrove forest that was severely damaged by Cyclone Sidr. IRG will mobilize existing resources and personnel already in Bangladesh to extend the community-based approach to sustainable management of protected areas which IRG is already implementing in 6 other protected areas in Bangladesh. This urgent action is being undertaken is response to an explicit request from the Government of Bangladesh.
