PREVIOUSLY POSTED ON 7/16/03The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c), with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), of New York, NY, to serve as the Secretariat for the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC 1) on Information Technology, Subcommittee 37 on Biometrics (ISO/IEC JTC I/SC 37). Services are required for the Information Technology Laboratory Office, at NIST. *****The Government requires experienced and informed Secretariat services on a Subcommittee (SC 37 on Biometrics) that is critical to NIST's program of work to accelerate the approval of International Standards in support of the Homeland Security requirements of the U.S.A. ANSI is the U.S. member of the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC). The expertise and experience gained in performing Secretariat services for Joint Technical Committee 1 on Information Technology (JTC 1) and numerous JTC 1 Subcommittees make ANSI uniquely qualified to serve as Secretariat for the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC 1) on Information Technology, Subcommittee 37 on Biometrics (ISO/IEC JTC I/SC 37).*****The period of performance will be three (3) months.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by July 21, 2003, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
