Concerns having the ability to furnish the services described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 10 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The U.S. Geological Survey, Central Region Energy Team, Geologic Division, has a requirement to obtain a database with extensive worldwide coverage that contains organic geochemical data on oil and gas samples from exploratory wells and producing fields. The database must be in digital form with precise location information such that data can be plotted on maps using Geographic Information System (GIS) computer software. Access to such a database is critical to the identification and mapping of petroleum systems for the World Energy assessment project and for future National assessments. The PD must contain oil and gas data on at least 7000 oils and 2000 natural gases. The database is to be manipulated using Access and is displayed via the ArcView geographic information system (GIS). This database will be updated with new samples every six months. Based on the information at this time, the government considers the services specified as a sole source from GeoMark Research Ltd, 9748 Whithorn Dr, Houston, TX 77095-5024, and proposes to negotiate a contract with the firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required services are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Governments only official notice of this procurement.
