Contractor shall, independently and not as an agent of the Government, provide the Government with access to up to eight (8) healthy adult primates (chimpanzees) per year including all American Association for the Accreditation and Assessment of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) approved housing, maintenance and veterinary services for the experimental primates, labor, equipment, facilities, (except as otherwise noted), materials, supplies, travel, transportation, veterinary and other animal service required to house, care and feed the chimpanzees. Facility that maintains chimpanzee breeding colony must be within a one (1) hour drive from Atlanta, Georgia. The contract period shall be for one (1) base year with four (4) additional one (1) year options. Solicitation will be issued on approximately July 15, 2003 to Emory University, Decatur, Georgia, on a sole source basis. Emory University is the sole source for yerkes primate breeding colony within a one (1) hour drive of Atlanta Georgia.
