NOTICE: Proposals are NOT being accepted in response to this document. The Naval Medical Logistics Command (NMLC) intends to award a cost reimbursement contract to The Regents of the University of California on behalf of its San Diego campus (RUCSD), 9500 Gilman Dr., La Jolla CA 92093.
This requirement is to provide coordinated scientific research support services for the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC), Warfigher Performace (WFP) Department research study Quantification of Cervical and Lumbar Spine Kinematics and Muscle Physiology in Swift Boat Combatant Crewman.
Performance will include: image cervical and lumbar spine via vertical MRI; analysis of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) images; performing high resolution supine MRI scans of the lumbar and cervical spine sensitive to muscle microstructure (diffusion tensor MRI) and fatty degeneration (IDEAL MRI); analysis of high resolution supine MRI scans; and annual MRI (vertical and supine) and co-authoring manuscripts, as outlined in the task presented in Section 3.
Performance also includes gathering and analyzing data to understand cervical and lumbar spine kinematics in swift boat combatant crewman as a function of craft; the influence of muscle structure and physiology on lumbar and cervical spine kinematics under simulated operational conditions in swift boat combatant crewman; and structural changes over time in swift boat combatant crewman.
Fundament research services provided in performance of this contract require continuity in phases of research and documentation and any discontinuity may resolute in a higher probability of project failure. As such, the services contained herein are considered non-severable.
