INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE: The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to negotiate sole source commercial item procurement with Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSU). Complex renal biopsies and immunofluorescence staining will be sent from the Asheville Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), to the pathology department at LSU for biopsy. Nephropathology is a sub specialty and any interested party should ensure their lab is highly capable of providing expert interpretations of biopsies and return the results within a 24 hour turnaround time period. The period of performance for this procurement shall be for 12 months with 4 one year option periods. This proposed contract action is for services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR Part 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, interested parties may identify their interest by sending capability statements in reference to this requirement no later than 4:30 p.m., August 31, 2013 EST to: [email protected] A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
