SCOPE OF SERVICES: The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, Providence, RI is seeking sources for either part-time or full-time radiologists in support of the Diagnostic Imaging Department. A full-time equivalent is considered 40 hours per week or (1.0 FTE). There may be scheduled times on Saturdays and Sundays. There may be on call requirements during holidays, nights and weekends, response would be required within two (2) hours after notification. Remote access via VA’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) is available for Teleradiology. 1. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: a. Provide interpretation of radiological studies using voice recognition software. b. Promptly verify all exam reports. c. Provide consultations to other clinical services and other VA facilities. d. Participate in planning and scheduling of radiological services. e. Provide services within the boundaries of clinical privileges, scopes of practice and terms and conditions of the contract. f. Assess resource needs, request needed resources from VA and perform all other functions essential to assisting the radiology service in furnishing the highest quality of service. g. Provide clinical care to patients undergoing invasive radiological testing such as biopsies, drainages and angiography procedures. Contractor radiologist must be qualified by training and experience to provide on-site teaching and consultation to medical students and house officers. Contractor radiologist must also be qualified by training and experience to provide attending physicians and trainees effective and timely on-site consultation and participate in person at Tumor Boards and similar patient care/quality assurance conferences QUALIFICATIONS: Contractor radiologist covered by this contract shall be licensed in a state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia. They must: a. Have a current, unrestricted medical license; and b. Be credentialed and privileged by the VA to practice medicine at the VA prior to providing any services. The qualifications of Contractor radiologist shall be subject to review by the Chief of Staff and approved by the VA Director. 2. EDUCATION RESPONSIBILITIES: a. Participate in teaching conferences, grand rounds, journal club and similar education activities. b. Contractor radiologist shall be required to attend VA VISTA computer system training, PACS training, and other necessary training sessions required by VA policies and regulations. MEDICAL INSURANCE: Prior to the award of contract, Contractor must demonstrate proof of medical malpractice insurance coverage on each employee working under the contract in the minimum amount according to VA requirements.
