The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office (NCO) 7 is seeking sources to provide Perfusionist and Assistant Perfusionist services for beneficiaries of the Birmingham VA Medical Center. Services shall be performed onsite at the Birmingham VA Medical Center, 700 19th St S, Birmingham, AL 35233.
Requirements are for .62 FTE Perfusionist and 1.02 FTE Perfusionist Assistant. One perfusionist and one perfusionist assistant are required for each open-heart procedure. Surgery cases will be scheduled three days a week Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding national holidays.
All Perfusionists shall be certified or have a minimum of two years of experience as a clinical perfusionist. All Perfusionists shall be a graduate of an accredited Allied Health Education Program School of Perfusion Technology, and shall be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, demonstrate evidence of meeting continuing education requirements. Experience shall be demonstrated in the following areas: Open heart surgery, autotransfusion, heart lung machine, membrane oxygenation, left/right heart bypass, intra-aortic balloon pumping and centrifugal ventricular assist device.
