The National Institutes of Health, Office of Acquisitions Station Support Simplified Acquisitions Branch on behalf of the National Eye Institute (NEI) intends to negotitate, on a non-competitive basis, with Illumina, Inc., 9885 Towne Centre Drive, San Diego, CA 92121-1975. This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 - Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b)(1) and FAR 13.501 (a)(1) to use Simplified Acquisition Procedure for commercial items.

The North American Industry Classification System Code for this acquisition is 3345160    and the size standard is 500 employees.

The National Eye Institute requires a TruSeq RNA Sample Prep Kit, Cat# FC-122-1001 and a TruSeq SBS Kit v5 GA, Cat# FC-104-5040. This requirement is for the existing Illumina sequencing system, the consumables requested are specifically developed and validated for use on the Illumima GAIIx DNA sequencer. They are the only consumables available for use on this instrument and are only available for purchase. There is no other vendor that can supply these consumables.

No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses submitted to [email protected] on or before 10:00 AM ET May 23, 2011. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
