The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. ("AURA"), acting as the operator of the Gemini Observatory, is seeking a vendor to provide and install equipment specified by AURA to expand its existing KeyScan access control system at its base facility in Hilo, Hawaii, and its astronomy observatory on the summit of Mauna Kea on Hawaii Island. Ten exterior and eight interior doors in the Hilo Base Facility office building, plus two exterior doors and one interior door at the Mauna Kea summit observatory, will be added to the current system. The project to be bid on will involve: 1) purchasing and installing magnetic switches and locks, electronic latches, motion sensors and proximity card readers (which will be specified by AURA) to replace existing mechanical door hardware; 2) installing wiring in existing interior and exterior walls; and 3) coordinating new hardware installations with Geminiââ¬â¢s current system, which uses KeyScan software. The anticipated period of performance for this contract shall be from November 1, 2009 to January 31, 2010.
