The contract will be a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Commercial Purchase Order and carried out as a sole source action (not competitively awarded). The statutory authority which permits other than full and open competition for this acquisition is 10 United States Code (USC) 2304 (c) (1), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b). This authority is supported by an approved Single Source Justification. The applicable NAICS code is 333517, and the size standard as defined by the U.S. Small Business Administration is 500 employees.

Currently workshops at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) and the National Museum of the United States Air Force (Museum) utilize equipment with Southwestern Industries proprietary software – ProtoTRAK series conversational controller format - which link the hardware together. The new lathes for these organizations must be capable of integrating with existing shop equipment.

THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS OR QUOTATIONS. No solicitation package will be issued. Requests for copies of a solicitation in response to this notice will not be honored or acknowledged. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether conducting a competitive procurement is in the best interest of the Government. All responses received by 15 February 2023 at 10:00am EST will be considered by the Government. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals/quotes.
