The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Emory University, 201 Dowman Drive, Atlanta, GA 30322-1018 to receive sampled material from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Pox Virus Program to generate whole genomic poxvirus sequence libraries. These libraries will be sequenced using the Illumina or other high throughput sequencing technology to provide raw sequence. The sequence information will be filtered and analyzed to provide knowledge about the experimental questions specific to each sequence. The analyses and raw sequence data will be provided to the CDC for storage and further analysis.
The Emory University core facility has demonstrated the ability to successfully work with the large poxvirus genome (which is up to 10 times larger than that of other viruses). This knowledge and skill combined with a proficiency with the high throughput technologies are unique to this facility. CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. This procurement is not set-aside for small business. For contractual questions contact Tamera Murphy,
