This publication serves as notice of intent to procure services for the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Santa Cruz Tiburon Laboratory located in Santa Cruz, CA on a sole source basis with University of CA, Santa Cruz. The government intends to acquire services using FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Proposed vendor will provide technical support to conduct genetic data and analyses of O. mykiss, steelhead/rainbow trout, to complement on-going research on population dynamics at the University of California's Landels/Hill Big Creek Reserve. This integration of genetic data/analyses with population dynamic modeling, based on mark/recapture estimates, will greatly expand inference beyond that which can be obtained from either method alone. These insights include estimates of the sex ratio and sex-specific patterns of life history and activity, detailed information on the distribution of kin relationships in the population and its variation in time and space, and an accounting of mating structure in the Big Creek populations. The study site for this study is located in University of California Santa Cruz Natural Reserve The government intends to negotiate a firm- fixed price contract with a period of performance that will start from date of award through Aug 31, 2010.
