This notice is being publicized in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.101 requiring Contracting Officers to disseminate information for proposed contract actions expected to exceed $25,000.  Further in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 it is the intent of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to make award to the Lafayette Instrument Company. 

The intended order will provide for the purchase of 24 Basic DAS Systems.  DEA is mandated to use the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute (DoDPI) for the training and certification of new Special Agent/Polygraph Examiners.  The DoDPI trains the new DEA examiners on the Lafayette Computerized Polygraph System.  The Lafayette Instrument Company is the only developer and manufacturer of this system. 

As a result the Lafayette Instrument Company is the only responsible source to provide the necessary equipment for the DEA's polygraph requirements.
