This notice is being publicized in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.101 requiring Contracting Officers to disseminate information for proposed contract actions expected to exceed $25,000. Further in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 it is the intent of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to make a sole source award to Lafayette Instrument.

The intended order will provide for the purchase of 10 Basic DAS (LX4000) Systems.  DEA is mandated to use the Defense Academy for Credibility Assessment (DACA) for the training and certification of new Special Agent/Polygraph Examiners.  DACA trains the new DEA examiners on the Lafayette Computerized Polygraph Systems.  The Lafayette Instrument Company is the only developer and manufacturer of this system.

As a result Lafayette Instrument is the only responsible source able to provide the equipment for for the DEA's polygraph requirements.
