Synopsis:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intends to negotiate a sole source award in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1). A sole-source, fixed-price procurement with Abbott Molecular, 1300 E. Touhy Ave., Des Plaines, IL 60018 for the purchase (1) PLEX-ID Instrument. This instrument is capable of running multiple different forensics assays, including mitochondria DNA analysis, STR, Y-STR and SNP analyses on the same instrument within a single fully-automated and seamless run, utilizing exactly the same reagents, data processing, and analysis software. This is an advantage in convenience, automation and uniformity not offered on other current forensics platforms. This notice will be distributed through the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) Website (www.fedbizopps.gov). Interested parties are responsible for monitoring the FBO site to ensure they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. Based on market research conducted of the PLEX-ID this instrument is sold exclusively by Abbott Molecular.
