HHS, SUPPLY SERVICE CENTER, PERRY POINT, MARYLAND, intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price contract to Invitrogen Inc. for Part Number 10966083, Platinum Taq DNA Polymerase.  The proposed contract action is for the ongoing BioWatch Program which is transitioning their analytical program to using the DOD Critical Reagents Program assays in conjunction with the CDC LRN assays.  This item is available on a sole source basis from Invitrogen Inc, Life Technologies Corporation, 5791 Van Allen Way, Carlsbad CA 92008-7313.  Invitrogen Inc is the sole manufacturer for Platinum Taq DNA Polymerase.  The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-40. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 325414.   Interested vendors may identify their interests and capabilities to the requirement no later than 10:00 am EST, May 14, 2010.  

The Government will consider all responses but a determination not to compete this action is solely under the discretion of the Government. This action is under the authority of 10 USC 2304 (c) (1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. Only one responsible source and no other will satisfy agency requirements.
