The authority to make this purchase is that no other validated, acceptable or equivalent alternative exists.  DoD MITS-CRP evaluated avaialble reagent assays.  Life Technologies' Platinum Taq was selected after rigorous testing and evaluation.  DoD MITS-CRP validated and optimized their analytics using Platinum Taq.  The CDC uses the same equipment, assays, and protocols to conduct assessments compatible across DoD and civilian agencies.
