The Chicago District intends to establish a follow-on, firm-fixed price services contract for the continuation of surveys for a federally endangered dragonfly. Under the contract, the proposed vendor would continue its efforts to provide professional technical assistance/consulting services, consisting of the following items: a) Map out potential Somatochlora hineana larval habitat areas within the Lockport Prairie Nature Preserve; b) Evaluate the distribution and abundance of S. hineana larvae and crayfish burrows in streamlet and flowage systems within the Lockport Prairie Nature Preserve; c) Evaluate S. hineana larval habitat quality by assessing growth rates; d) Evaluate S. hineana adult crossing of Illinois Route 53; e) Deliver an annual report of activities associated with the monitoring and other studies to be delivered during each year of the project; and f) Deliver a final report summarizing results of eDNA sampling, habitat quality assessments, and conventional burrow and benthic sampling.

The proposed vendor has been the only source of several years of data collected specifically at the Lockport Prairie Site that specifically involves S. hineana larval and habitat parameters and interactions specific to the larval phase of its life cycle. Given that the pertinent data required for analyses under this acquisition has already been collected and is currently being held by the University of South Dakota (our proposed vendor for this acquisition), this acquisition is considered to be available from one source, the proposed vendor.
