Scope of Work:Brookhaven National Laboratory is searching for a part time attending veterinarian to durect the multi-species, AAALAC accredited, animal research program.  The attending veterinarian must provide strong leadership skills, and must be a graduate of an accredited school of veterinary medicine.  He/She must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the State of New York, and be certified by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. This contract is for one base year with two one year options to extend. The major responsibilities shall include the following:

1.  Oversee all aspects of veterinary care and services to include non human primates, rabbits, and rodents.

2.  Ensure regulatory compliance.

3.  Provide guidance in animal model development.

4.  Work with investigators in a variety of disciplines.

5.  Performs functions related to the Laboratory's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.

6.  Participate in the Life Sciences Directorate training program.

7.  Must have experience in conducting scientific research.

8.  Use strong interpersonal and; management skills as required for a smooth, compliant operation.

9.  Solicits funding from the National Institute of Health for Brookhaven facility renovations.

10.  The position requires to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The work hours are 8 hours per week.
