The Virginia Army National Guard is offering for sale approximately 192,000 pounds of brass casings from expended munitions. Buyer will be responsible for determining exact weight of product at time of purchase. Proof of weight will be provided for verification. In accordance with Department of Defense Instruction Number 4715.4, buyer must be able to deform the expended brass by crushing, shredding or otherwise destroying to such a degree that it is unrecognizable from its original configuration, prior to its transfer from government ownership. Deforming may be completed off-site from Fort Pickett, but must be observed by a qualified government representative and certified as meeting the required standard. Only after this is accomplished will the contracting officer approve removal of the material from the site. Product will be available for examination from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, 7 May 2010 and Monday, 10 May 2010 or otherwise by appointment at Building 2360, Kemper Avenue, Fort Pickett, Blackstone, VA 23824. This sale will be by the pound. Forms for use in submitting a bid and terms and conditions are attached. Seller reserves the right to refuse all bids. Pick up is required within seven (7) calendar days of award. Payment is due after certification. Only checks or money orders made out to the Department of Treasury will be accepted.
