The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with OPEX Corporation, 305 Commerce Drive, Moorestown, NJ 08057, for the maintenance of Eight OPEX Omation letter Openers under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13.106-1(b)(1), as the Contracting Officer has determined that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available.  OPEX utilizes proprietary service diagnostic software covered by patents and copyrights that has not been released to any third party sources.  SSA anticipates the award of a firm fixed price modification for the maintenance performance period of February 17, 2010 to February 16, 2011 with an option for an additional year and performance to February 2012.  SSA shall issue a sole source award under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures.  Responses to this notice should be submitted by February 8, 2010.
