Project Description This project consists of the replacement of approx 415 Squares of existing flat built up roofing, of one kind or another, on 6 different roof levels, together with associated work at the Middle and High School Buildings at Centerville School. The Project entails replacement of the existing roofing systems, complete with accessories and all associated work to make a watertight roofing system. The existing roofing generally consists of two layers of built-up roofing systems over either heavy wood deck, lightweight Insulating Concrete (LWIC), or insulation on metal decking. The Work generally includes the removal of all existing roof systems and coatings down to the original decking to the greatest extent possible and replaced with a new roofing system. All metal flashing, metal fascia, cant strips, and drip edges are to be removed and replaced. There is a substantial amount of piping and mechanical equipment on top of some of the roofs to be replaced, the locations of which is generally noted on the drawings. The Owner will work with the contractor for temporarily removing roof-top HVAC systems, but all piping will remain. The Work also includes some removal of skylights, vents, and other items that are no longer in use, which may entail minor repainting of associated surfaces. All removed materials and debris associated with this work shall be disposed of in the Parish Landfill in accord with all local, state, and national code requirements. The new roofing system shall be a 2 or 3 ply SBS roofing system over 1/8” slope tapered insulation with new flashings and pipe supports as indicated in the drawings and specifications. The project will be bid with a Base Bid and one Additive Alternate Bid. Contractors shall anticipate that the school building will be occupied during a portion of the time that the roofing work will be performed.
