Scope of Work (Includes: Federal grant scope items and State grant scope items) General Project Description The contractor will complete invasive weed treatment for two years and restoration to include seedbed preparation and seeding. The two main invasive plant species for focus include: • Cirsium vulgare (bull thistle) 72.67 acres (state) + 221.56 acres (federal). Total acres: 294.23 • Linaria dalmatica (dalmatian toadflax) 151.61 (federal). Total acres: 151.61 Minor invasive plant species for focus include: • Convolvulus arvensis (field bindweed) .03 acres (federal). Total acres: 0.03 • Carduus nutans (musk thistle) 1.63 (state). Total acres: 1.63 Seeding Includes: • Total acres: 31.5 Work Location Description The Observatory Mesa Natural Area is located on the west side of Flagstaff Arizona, with project center coordinates (in Decimal Degrees), Latitude (y-coordinates) 33.53157, Longitude (x-coordinates) -111.66895. The property is bound on the northern, eastern, and southern boundaries by private development (primarily single-family homes), with Forest Service property immediately adjacent to the western property boundary, and a centrally owned section. The property can be accessed on the west side, from Forest Service Road 515. Vehicle access is limited along existing roads. Motorized vehicles may be used for access and treatment where appropriate with written permission. Scope Item #1 (federal grant: IPG- 22-701) Chemical treatment of noxious weeds once per year for 2 years. Approximately 221.56 acres of Cirsium vulgare (bull thistle), 151.61 acres of Linaria dalmatica (dalmatian toadflax, and .03 acres of Convolvulus arvensis (field bindweed). Total acres ~ 373.2 2. Scope Item #2 (federal grant: IPG- 22-701) Determine locations for treatment photos at a minimum of 4 fixed locations within the focus area and take pictures pre-treatment year one and year two and post-treatment year one and year two 3. Scope Item #3 (federal grant: IPG- 22-701) Conduct an inspection and evaluation of treatments and prepare a report on work, including photographs. 4. Scope Item #4 (federal grant: IPG- 22-701) Prepare invoices specific to federal grant, number IPG- 22-701 5. Scope Item #5 (state grant: IPG-22S-702) Chemical treatment of noxious weeds once per year for 2 years. Approximately 72.67 acres of Cirsium vulgare (bull thistle) and 1.63 acres of Carduus nutans (musk thistle) 6. Scope item #6 (state grant: IPG-22S-702) Restoration and revegetation: seedbed preparation and seeding with native seed mix in year 2. This will include seedbed preparation including identification of best locations for restoration, possible removal/thinning of existing mulch, soil preparation, seed mix, seeding, and possible mulching for ~ 31.5 acres within the project area 7.
