This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with (IAW) the format in Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being required and a written solicitation will not be issued. Scope of work to provide Unigraphics NX CAD software maintenance (proprietary data rights) . The software maintenance is for commercial off the shelf (COTS) software product, to facilitate viewing, design and verification of 3-D CAD models developed for various weapons systems in the Air Force inventory. This United States Air Force (USAF) intends to award a sole source, commercial, firm-fixed price purchase order to Siemens Government Services, Inc. This solicitation incorporates provisions and clauses that are in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-23 dated 26 Dec 2007.

Justification for Brand Name Only: Added expense and schedule delays would result from the deployment of new models and simulations. Siemens was found to be the sole-manufacturer of the Unigrapchics NX CAD Software. The use of such descriptions in the acquisition is essential to the Government's requirements, thereby precluding consideration of a product manufactured by another company.
