Scope of Work: The City of Oakland is soliciting bids for landscape maintenance services for the Mandela Parkway, extending from 8th Street to 34th Street and totaling approximately 16 acres. The Mandela Parkway and parkway median was constructed after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake destroyed the elevated Cypress Freeway along Interstate 880 that bisected West Oakland. The parkway median, as well as landscaped areas on both sides on Mandela Parkway, is 1.3 miles long, varies from 60 to 100 feet in width, and contains almost 600 trees. The contractor will be required to provide a full range of landscape management and maintenance services. These services include, but are not limited to: • Mow lawn to industry standards • Monitor and repair irrigation systems • Maintain weed free flower beds • Prune trees and shrubbery to promote growth as needed to industry standard • Replace plant material as needed • Litter removal • Provide monthly herbicide use report as required by Department of Agriculture
