The US Geological Survey intends to make a noncompetitive award to Stanford University for non-personal services at the Stanford-USGS Micro-isotopic Analytical Center (SUMAC). Services are for operating and training on the Sensitive High-Resolution Ion MicroProbe with Reverse Geometry (SHRIMP-RG) located in the Green Earth Sciences Research Building at Stanford University. The SHRIMP-RG is one of only two such instruments in the world. Only SUMAC scientist personnel have a detailed knowledge of the analytical capabilities of the SHRIMP-RG sufficient to train USGS scientists and operate the instrument. No other sources are known to possess the unique and essential qualifications required for operation of and training on this complex scientific instrument. The period of performance is anticipated to be date of award through September 30, 2009 with an option period of October 01, 2009 through September 30, 2010. Place of Performance: Stanford University, Stanford, CA 94305-4100. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available.
