The USGS, Pacific Office of Acquisition and Grants intends to award a non-competitive purchase order to the Carl Zeiss SMT of Peabody, MA to provide full coverage, preventative and remedial maintenance on the LEO 982 digital field emission scanning electron microscope located at the USGS facility in Menlo Park, CA. This notice of intent is not a request for expression of interest, sources sought, proposals or quotations. A determination by a USGS to offer this requirement to only one source is solely within the discretion of the USGS in consideration of what is in the best interest of the Government. The USGS intends to award a non-competitive award action in accordance with FAR Part 6, Paragraph 6.301-1, wherein it states the following: "only one responsible source will satisfy the requirements of the agency."
