PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Wild Rivers BCB is located within the Wild Rivers Recreation Area, a portion of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. It begins about 26 miles north of Taos, NM near the town of Cerro, NM, where NM state highway 378 dead-ends into the Byway. The Wild Rivers BCB is a 12.5-mile two-lane paved road that offers access points for recreational biking and mountain biking on 3 designated trails, sightseeing, camping / picnicking, fishing, and hiking on 10 designated trails. The access road is used for school visitations, architectural surveys, geology education services, horseback riding, and fishing tour guides.
SCOPE OF THE WORK:
The primary objective of the proposed contract is the reconstruction of 3.21-mile Wild Rivers Road section from the Loop Road end, north to the end of Ice Hill and consists of a widening the paved surface to 34 feet to provide wider shoulders. Schedule A, is proposed pavement typical section is two 11-foot lanes and two 6-foot shoulders with safety edge and proper shouldering material to the top of pavement
Option-X is full reconstruction areas (Ice Hill) and reverse curve and realignment includes two 11-foot lanes and two 6-foot shoulders. The 3-inch asphalt pavement will be placed over 8-inch aggregate base.
