This notice will be distributed solely through the General Services Administration's Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) Website (www.fedbizopps.gov). Interested parties are responsible for monitoring the FBO site to ensure they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. The North American Classification System Code is 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing; the size standard is 750 employees.
The FBI requires a Nicolet DXR Raman spectrometer system for the analysis of materials such as primary explosives and peroxides and to analyze trace amounts of materials such as paints, fibers, and unknown powders and liquids.
The Nicolet DXR Raman spectrometer system will prevent the need to modify established, validated caseworking procedures, preclude a requirement for additional Examiner/technician training and testing on new equipment and methods, and maintain analytical consistency with the FBI. The Nicolet DXR Raman spectrometer system is the only system that meets the specifications of the validated protocols used by the FBI.
Based on market research conducted and contacts made with knowledgeable individuals within the government and related industry, it has been determined the FBI's requirement can only be provided by Thermo Electron North America, since they are the manufacturer and only seller of the Nicolet DXR Raman spectrometer system.
