STATEMENT OF WORK
MOBILE EEG HEADSET -24 CHANNEL

1.0 BACKGROUND
The Physical and Cognitive Operational Research Environment (PhyCORE) in the Warfighter Performance Laboratory at the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) is a state-of-the art, realistic and operationally relevant research environment outside of theater. Expanded, enhanced, and upgraded from the CAREN Extended system (Motek Medical, Amsterdam, The Netherlands), the PhyCORE systems provide a real-life environment with real-time actions for a variety of research projects serving the needs of contemporary military operations. The capabilities of the current PhyCORE can be significantly further enhanced if the cognitive functions of the brain and physiological manifestations of abnormal cortical activities can be monitored, studied, examined, and trained simultaneously with physical performance. The goal of this project is to implement these capabilities into the PhyCORE systems for enhanced patient assessment and surveillance for clinicians utilizing DoD CAREN systems to study and rehabilitate wounded warriors. To achieve the project goals, it is imperative to evaluate which of the commercially available mobile EEG systems is most suitable for quantitative assessment of neurocognitive functions and can be easily incorporated into the existing complex data acquisition and sensory stimulation systems of the PhyCORE.

2.0 SCOPE
In order to systematically test specific mobile EEG capability within a simulated 3D virtual reality environment, a portable EEG system that meets the following criteria is required:
• 20 dry EEG sensors with complete head coverage according to 10/20 International System locations
• Dry Common Mode Follower reference sensor and dry ground electrode (completely dry system: no wet electrodes or gel contacts)
• 24-Channel BlueTooth wireless transmission with 3 auxiliary inputs for additional sensors (ECG, EOG, or EMG)
• Active sensors that record artifact free ambulatory EEG without advanced filtration
• ≥256Hz sampling, and ≥16bit acquisition, and ≥4-bit external trigger input
• ≥120dB Common Mode Rejection Ratio
• One-size-fits-all and fast-donning headset that is comfortable for long-term wear
• Electrodes tips must work through hair and be Silver/Silver Chloride coated (for low noise at low frequencies and rapid stabilization of signal)
• Data acquisition software with real-time streaming of data through TCP/IP socket, and export to csv and edf file formats.
• Compatible and complete software for EEG data acquisition and processing
• Compatible and complete software for automated evaluation of cognitive constructs
