The Lost Mule Road Decommissioning project consists of decommissioning approximately 6 miles of road. This project requires vegetation mastication before deommissioning to limit slash development. Road decommissioning treatment requires complete recontouring of the slope with decompaction of the roadway. All fill material in draws will be removed and stream channels restored to natural grade and dimensions. All disturbed areas will be seeded. In addition, native forbs and shrubs will be transplanted from areas adjacent to the road and grade contract structures shall be installed in newly restored stream channels.

The project is located southeast of Kooskia, ID. From Kooskia travel south on Highway 13 for 11 miles to the junction of the Sally Ann road. Turn left and travel 3.5 miles east to Clearwater, ID. Turn right on County Road 284 and travel south for 3.5 miles to the junction of Forest Road 1106. Turn left and head northeast to the beginning of the project area.

The performance period for this project is approximately June 30-October 15, 2013.  Solicitation was issued 5/23/13.  Contractors are urged to visit the site of work.  This is particularly important given the vegetation mastication required in additional to the road decommissioning.

This acquisition has been set-aside for HUBZone Concerns. Offerors must be certified HUBZone Concerns with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
