The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Qiagen, LLC. for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for highly sensitive and reproducible microRNA (miRNA) detection. This technology provides thermal stability and specificity of duplexes formed with complementary RNA and high uniform binding affinity for short specific probes, which has substantially increased the sensitivity and affinity for miRNA detection. The LNA probe and primer-based system provides sensitive detection, high performance and reproducibility. NGS requires a small amount of total RNA and can deliver reports within a short period of time.

Qiagen, LLC possess proprietary products for miRNA detection that delivers high performance through the use of LNA technology. Based on the specific miRNA processing, the LNA technology used to characterize miRNA profiles, Qiagen’s unique NGS data analysis pipeline, and the requirement for reproducibility of previous datasets, Qiagen is the only company that can offer this service.

This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) “only one source is reasonably available”.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within three (3) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
