This synopsis is a pre-solicitation notice and is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be issuing an RFP for the re-compete of the National Supplier Clearinghouse Medicare Administrative Contractor (NSC MAC) for Medicare Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS). The NSC MAC performs tasks including, but not limited to, assuring potential DMEPOS suppliers meet the standards as outlined in 42 CFR 424.57, maintaining supplier files using the government-furnished Provider Enrollment Chain and Ownership System (PECOS) and investigating for potential non-compliance and fraud of DMEPOS suppliers. CMS anticipates award of one contract with a 12-month base period and four (4) 12-month option periods. CMS intends to solicit for this requirement under full and open competition; this announcement is not an RFP. CMS anticipates release of a RFP on or about December 17, 2012; the solicitation will be available on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website.
