The Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters Division, Patuxent River, MD intends to award a contract modification to a sole-source firm-fixed price contract to Honeywell International, Albuquerque, NM, for the procurement and storage of the following obsolete parts; Thermal Electric Cooler, Cypress nvRAM, NXP Fan Motor Controller, Intersil Video Amp, Fairchild QFET and Fairchild J-K Flip. The items will deliver and ship in place at the contractor owned facility in Albuquerque, NM. The Air Combat Electronics Office (PMA 209) has a requirement to protect production and repair of the 8X10 Advanced Multi-Purpose Displays (AMPD) for capability of the Advanced Mission Computer & Displays (AMC&D) system, the mission system for the F/A-18 aircraft. The obsolete parts are a commercial component of the 8X10 Advanced Multi-Purpose Display and are going obsolete. Additional emergent requirements for the 8X10 AMPD necessitate the procurement of an additional life of type buy for this component. There are no other known parts that meet form, fit and function replacement requirements. Honeywell is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the AMPD, and as such, is the only source capable of procuring, managing and storing this part to protect production and life cycle support of the AMPD. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under statutory authority of 10 U.S.C 2304 (c) (1) as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 (Only on responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements).
