The U.S. Department of Agricultural (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC), Bee Research Laboratory plans to award a sole source simplified, fixed price acquisition to Illumina Inc. located at 9885 Towne Centre Drive San Diego, CA 92121 for the purpose of processing and sequencing genomic DNA to provide 60X genome coverage of the honey bee mite parasite Varroa Destructor using the following products: PE-102-1001: PE Sample Prep Kit, PE-203-4001 Paired End Cluster Generation Kit V4, FC-104-4002 36 Cycle Sequencing Kit V4. The multiple genomic sequencing kits must be compatible with the Illumina Genome Analyzer sequencing station.
Any firms that are manufacturers or distributors of the noted products above are invited to identify themselves as such when responding to this notice. All firms when responding are requested to identify its firm's size and type of business (e.g. small business, service disabled or HUBZone etc) and whether or not they are a manufacturer (as defined by FAR Subpart 19.102(f) or a dealer or distributor of these kinds of products. This information will be used to assist the Government in determining the competitive environment for the goods or services listed above.
THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. However, it is a market research tool being used to determine the availability and adequacy of potential sources prior to determining the method of acquisition and issuance of a Request for Quotes (RFQ) including the use of any and all appropriate small business programs. Vendors that believe they can provide a product that fully meets the Government's requirement or who are resellers may submit substantiating documentation in writing to the identified point of contact within 10 days after publication of this notice.
This notice is for informational and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. A determination by the Government not to conduct a competitive procurement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
