This notice is being published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 5.101 requiring the dissemination of information for proposed contract actions. This is a notice of intent to award a sole-source contract and is not a request for competitive proposals. The statutory authority for this procurement is Section 4202 of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 as implemented by FAR 13.501(a).

The Military Sealift Command (MSC) intends to issue a firm-fixed price sole-source contract to Smith Berger Marine, Inc. of Seattle, WA,, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) on or about 25 March 2014 for seventy (70) each Model 10 x 10 Stainless Steel Chock Assemblies for USNS ALAN SHEPARD (T-AKE 3), USNS RICHARD E BYRD (T-AKE 4), USNS ROBERT E PEARY (T-AKE 5), USNS AMERLIA EARHART (T-AKE 6), USNS CARL BRASHEAR (T-AKE 7), USNS MATTHEW PERRY(T-AKE 9), USNS CHARLES DREW (T-AKE 10), USNS WASHINGTON CHAMBERS (T-AKE 11), and USNS CESAR CHAVEZ(T-AKE 14). The appropriate NAICS Code is 332999.

This notice of intent to award a sole-source contract is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement or quotation demonstrating the ability to provide the requested items or exception to the intent to purchase on a sole source basis, which shall be considered by the Government if received by Wednesday, 26 March 2014 at 2:00 pm, ET. MSC will not be responsible for any costs incurred by interested parties in responding to this notice. The Government is not obligated to and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this synopsis.
