This synopsis is being posted to the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov/.

The Naval Sea Systems Command has utilized other than full and open competition to award sole source contracts for the phased procurement of the DDG-1002, MK51 Gun Weapon System (GWS), associated hardware, engineering/support services and provisioning item orders to BAE Systems Land and Armaments Inc.  This sole source award was previously synopsized on 24 August 2009.  At that time, the period of performance was from the issuance of the contract through FY 2014.

The Naval Sea Systems Command, PEO Integrated Warfare Systems Surface Ship Weapons (PEO IWS 3.0) now intends to extend the period of performance for the MK 51 AGS for DDG-1002 through FY 2018.

This contract action will be awarded pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
