The City of Northampton is soliciting proposals for professional design services relating to the construction of a new microgrid system with battery storage for the Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School (SVAHS), the regional Red Cross Shelter; Cooley Dickinson Hospital (CDH); and Northamptonâs Department of Public Workâs main campus (DPW) per M.G.L. c7§§ 38A1/2-O. Sealed proposals will be accepted until the deadline of November 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM Eastern time at the Central Services Office, Memorial Hall, Suite #3, 240 Main St., Northampton, MA 01060. Refer to the RFQ for submission instructions and requirements. Late proposals will be rejected. Proposals will be opened and recorded immediately following the proposal deadline. Refer to the RFQ regarding an optional Designer Briefing conference. The selected Designer shall be responsible for the design and engineering of a microgrid system with battery storage â connected to one or more on-site third-party owned photovoltaic (PV) arrays â designed to increase the resiliency of three essential emergency facilities to long- term power outages. The estimated construction cost is $3.3M. The City of Northampton, the Awarding Authority, reserves the right to reject any or all bids wholly or in part; to waive technicalities and informalities; to amend and/or cancel bid prior to the time of opening; to make awards in a manner deemed best to the City; to correct any award erroneously made as a result of a clerical error on the part of the City.
