Location of Project:  Santa Fe National Forest, Jemez, Cuba & Espanola Ranger Districts, Sandoval & Rio Arriba Counties, New Mexico

Project Title:  Mexican Spotted Owl Territory Assessment & MSO Monitoring - Jemez RD

Project Description:

The contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, supplies, transportation, equipment and materials (except for Government furnished property) needed to conduct formal surveying and habitat assessments of Mexican spotted owl (MSO) habitat in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico. Some of the areas to be surveyed have been historically occupied by MSO, while other surveys will be conducted for the purpose of determining use of suitable habitat. Habitat assessments may be performed to determine habitat suitability of areas identified by the Forest Service. All surveying will be done according to established protocol to determine presence/absence and reproductive success.

The contractor shall submit completed forms, maps, digital images and a final report of all findings.

LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF MSO TERRITORIES

Survey locations vary across the west side of the forest that includes Jemez, Cuba, and Espanola Ranger Districts. (see map).

Contract Time:  145 days + optional survey periods (subject to funding availability)
