Delays encountered by non-standardized or incorrect data across disparate databases have proven problematic to script development, integration and with the continued refinement on the Library's part of the on-line operational needs of the preservation workflows and because of staffing shortages MBRS is unable to hire a FTE database manager. The LOC seeks Kasi Viswanath's expert assistance to continue efforts to extract, transform, and load data from and to various databases used by the MBRS division.
1. Scope of Work
1.1. General Requirements
• Provide the Library of Congress with expert consulting services in data transformation from and to MAVIS, ILS, and other databases used within the MBRS division.
• Provide the Library of Congress with running, executable code which may extract data from various data sources, as defined in the specific requirements, and transforms said data to the appropriate format.
• Produce loadable data from provided data sources to be introduced into the existing Mavis and ILS databases, as detailed in the specific requirements.
• Load data produced through conversion efforts into Mavis.
• Unanticipated data conversion tasks may be identified by the consultant as requirements are completed. Such tasks are to be submitted by the consultant to the COTR and MBRS management to be prioritized for contracting office processing.
1.2. Specific Requirements
1.2.1. Identify, convert, and load ILS records, ¾-inch card catalog records, and other records specified by the Moving Image curator from their existing format into Mavis. Highest priority will be given to records that pertain to 3/4-inch video, VHS, and DVD-R items.
1.2.2. Identify, convert, and load records from the following Recorded Sound sources into Mavis:
o National Public Radio (NPR)
o National Press Club
o Meet the Press
1.2.3. Identify, convert, and load convert records from the following data sources into Mavis:
o Prelinger collection data
o AAFF data
o J.F. MacDonald collection data
o Veterans' History Project (VHP) data
1.2.4. Fix and enhance the existing Mavis data conversion tool ("1-off tool") so data may be converted to Mavis-loadable formats from a variety of different sources, increasing its flexibility and removing existing limitations.
1.2.5. Ensure all remaining NBC collection data are converted and loaded into Mavis-loadable format.
2. Place of Performance
All work shall be completed in the following locations, or as otherwise negotiated with the COTR.

3. Period of Performance
The period of performance for this statement of work shall begin September 15, 2012.
All work specified within this document shall be completed by September 14, 2013.

The total contract value is $180,000

5. Terms and Conditions
Access to all computer code and data produced will be provided on an ongoing and continual basis to the COTR and all personnel designated by the COTR.

All computer code produced will be submitted on a weekly basis to the CVS repository maintained by the MBRS division.
