The Regional Health Contracting Office-Pacific at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii intends to award a sole source contract to Vericel Corporation for Matrix Autologous Chondrocyte Implant. This implant is patient specific and surgery is scheduled for October 2018. Vericel Corporation is the sole provider of this implant. The statutory authority permitting this award without full and open competition is 41 U.S.C. 1901, as cited in FAR 13.106(b)(1)(i) which authorizes the government to award contracts when there is only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
